Just thought I would clarify...
Joel and I leave the 2 older kids at home with a sitter all the time to go on dates, however, this was our first night to leave Austin with a teen sitter. Maybe it's just me, but I'm not ready to leave my baby with anyone, except Daddy or Grandma, until they are at least 6 months. Maybe I am a little crazy and attached but that's just me. So what do you guys think, how old do you start leaving your kids with a teenage babysitter?

Good question, because we still have yet to do it. We are considering doing it next month while we are at a neighbor's house for game night. Are we being overly protective?
I'm with you, Melanie, it takes me a while to be able to leave a baby with someone other than Rob or one of our moms. We haven't left Jack with a sitter yet, and I'm not sure when I'll be ready to! :)
I'm with you, my mom knows some kids from the school she works at and suggested some as sitters and even with Noah being 19 months I'm not sure. I'm just big on if they know CPR just in case a choking incident happened.
I have some major attachment issues...I think it has a lot to do with having to leave Isaiah when I went back to work. It will be a long time before I am ok with someone else watching the boys that aren't family.
I can't really recall when my mom and dad started getting the babysitter so they could go out on dates.
For me as a babysitter I was 11 when I first started. I was left alone with a 13month old baby. I've been watching that same family since and I am now 23 tomorrow. When this family had their 3rd baby They called me up when she was barely 1 month.
So I guess its up to you and when you feel comfortable leaving your child in someone else hands and how much you trust that person.
Love you!!!
Obviously we've never had family close enough to babysit our little babies. Our first time going out when Brady was a baby was when he was 4 months. I'd pumped a bottle and we took him to a middle-aged couple in our ward who had offered. We mostly just didn't go out or hire a babysitter because Cory was in school and we couldn't afford it.
We scored with our babysitter here because she's 19 and lives at home with no social life. She loves babies, so I had no concerns. Our first time hiring her Brooke was 2 1/2 months old. I realize I'm different than a lot of moms and have no attachment issues. The only problem is Brooke is attached to me since my pump broke and she's still nursing every 3 1/2 hours.
haha, I still haven't left Jamison with a teenager! I am WAY crazy!!
